Founded by Ellie Schneiderman and the late Stanley Levine, both prominent figures in the arts community, whose contributions have significantly shaped and revitalized the local arts landscape.
ArtSouth’s artists-as-teachers and professionals in the field provide after-school, summer camp, school-holiday, and weekend workshops, field trips, and year-round classes for children ages 4–17.
ArtSouth’s Creative Arts Summer Camp provides youth ages 6–15 with a multidisciplinary program.
ArtSouth offers age-friendly visual arts classes and workshops in painting, drawing, and mixed media to help senior adults remain artistically active regardless of skill level or experience. Classes focus on the fundamentals of drawing and painting, with techniques developed progressively according to participants’ needs. Classes are offered at various times and locations to serve Miami-Dade’s diverse senior population.
Monthly rotating gallery exhibitions and receptions at the Historic Perrine Community House in Palmetto Bay feature a variety of media created by local artists for sale or exhibition. These monthly events introduce the community to emerging local artists and provide artists with a free venue to exhibit and sell their work.
ArtSouth builds collaborative neighborhood connections that encourage public participation. Its seasonal visual arts workshops support neighborhood activity and social interaction at the historic Thalatta Estate in Palmetto Bay. All workshops are open to the public, and any resulting revenue supports ArtSouth programs for families and children who lack access to the arts because of economic constraints.
